SEO Isle of Man - Ranking Is Easy
Don't Pay For Rubbish
About 4 years ago in 2007 Google started pushing much more for localised results in its search results. With the addition of maps and some serious changes in the weightings of various ranking elements they were trying to deliver local businesses to the top for localised searches. It made sense to them and people searching. Not long after this major SEO companies started to pick up on this trend and started to push services aimed at promoting local businesses. Results were quick and easy to gain, the new online gold rush had begun. So quick and easy were the rankings that of course several years later everybody and their dog was an SEO expert that could deliver masses of traffic for local service websites. Of course they can, it's 100% simple and exactly what Google wants to show in their search results. The Isle of Man is no different, SEO Isle of Man services are cropping up everywhere, people looking for a wedge of cash each month to promote your website for local search terms. Some might be good, some not so good.
Here Are The Isle of Man SEO Companies I Would Avoid
- Anybody who keyword stuffs their title tag with pipe separated keywords e.g. "Isle of Man SEO | SEO Isle of Man | IOM SEO | SEO IOM"
- Anybody who wants to charge on anything other than a performance basis, it's easy to rank for local search terms but you want searches that convert to customers, if a SEO can't deliver customers they are a waste of time
- One trick ponies, if their main advice is to get an exact match domain for your main search target then run a mile
Those are some points but there are of course several other factors worth looking out for - perhaps a main one being people who promise to have done it for themselves and are now selling a service based on that experience. In the UK £560 million a week is spent on online retail alone. People who can actively rank web pages in competitive markets have no need to sell SEO services. If somebody tells you they are an expert in SEO and especially PPC and they are showing Adsense ads on their website then run in the opposite direction as fast as you can! The freedom to be enjoyed by working for yourself, managing your own web portfolio and earning a passive income could never be so easily given up to deal with pain in the ass clients (That's you that is!) As I said, any fool can rank local businesses for local search terms, you wouldn't pay somebody hundreds of pounds a month to make cups of tea for you would you? The learning curve is about the same.
So what I'd suggest is you go out and buy...nah I'm joking. I'm not trying to sell you anything, just offering up some free advice. Local search marketing, be it for the Isle of Man or any other location is all about good quality, naturally written unique content. You then get the basic on-the-page SEO factors right (Google it, it will take you 10 minutes to learn what you need) and source a few links. For less than £50 you can eliminate the need for buying smoke and mirrors from local experts. You really don't need many links for local searches as I'll happily prove with "SEO Isle of Man" and other IOM SEO related searches. How hard is it to find yourself on the first page for local searches, why not check for yourself?
ps Just one final note, Search Visible held the number 1 spot for all local IOM SEO related terms for a number of years (when we were selling search services) so can speak from experience about just how low value these search terms are. There's no way I would take these rankings if I thought it was going to deprive people of business.
